Joe Schlenoff is Mandelkern Professor of Polymer Science and a member of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. Prof. Schlenoff received his B.Sc. (Chemistry) from the University of Bristol in 1980. After a brief stint at Polaroid Corporation (Cambridge, MA), he completed a Ph.D. at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, in 1987. He joined the faculty of FSU in 1988. With support from various Federal and State agencies, he has developed ultrathin films for nanotechnology and biotechnology applications. These films are assembled from solutions of charged, water soluble polymers. He has recently co-edited the first volume on the topic, published by Wiley-VCH (2003). He has published ca. 100 papers and holds ca. 10 patents. Prof. Schlenoff teaches courses in Freshman chemistry, as well as courses in Analytical, Organic Thin Films, Polymer and Electrochemistry. |
